Conversation idea:

Consider Paul’s advice in Philippians 2:3-4, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Next, consider the selfish reasons people use to justify elective abortions. Now ask, which world would most people rather live in? A compassionate world where people genuinely care about each other and look out for each other, or a heartless world where people care only about themselves. Anyone who’s being honest will say the first.

Responding to comments:

Be prepared to address the usual talking points, but in addition, consider talking about how pro-choice attitudes negatively impact everyone’s quality of life. Selfishness is not conducive to forming deep, satisfying relationships. As such, it has a degrading effect on our friendships, community, and family life. This can result in increased isolation, loneliness, and depression. Fewer young adults forming families means that many will never have an opportunity to experience the blessings of family life from a parent or spouse perspective. And decreasing birth rates move us ever closer to a devastating demographic collapse.
